About Us

Welcome to Opera Block Academy of Dance!

We are a dance studio located in the Historic Downtown Opera Block at 140 ½ Kent St. We are so glad you are here!

We certainly understand that there are many other dance studios available to choose from. We believe not all are created the same. We would like to take a moment to walk you through what we have to offer and why we believe we are a class above the rest.

Our Vision is to create a graduated, structured environment that fosters technical development in the studies of dance and tumbling while inspiring creativity, character, stage presence, showmanship, confidence and grace. Our goal is that the skills you develop here will provide the stepping stones toward confidence, grace and tenacity helping you to succeed throughout life.

We have invested in state of the art technology so both the parent and student can stay involved and engaged in the dance class long after the scheduled class time has ended. We believe you should be able to improve and practice as often as you desire and we want to make sure you have the tools to do so! Please see our parent’s portal for tools and instructional videos developed to help your student improve and progress. We have invested in a high quality sound system for all of our dance and tumbling programs to ensure your child has a great experience. We have provided new dance and tumbling equipment; from the barres, to the mirrors, to the floors, to the mats, make no mistake we want to make sure you have the best tools to succeed!

We have taken the time to develop a graduated curriculum for the styles of Tap, Jazz, Ballet and Tumbling so that you know when you start the program, where you are, where you want to go and the steps required to graduate to a more advanced program. Our classes are currently all recital driven so you can see the progression of your student at the end of the year. Classes are in session from September to the end of May.

We love our students! It is our mission to make sure you have the best possible experience with us. We have structured our class sizes to be smaller to ensure we spend individual one on one time with each dancer who graces our studio. Each dancer has a unique personality and skill set and it is our mission to help determine what unique attributes you want to learn to enhance and empower you to do so. We were all designed to stand out, not fit in.
